WHEN DO I DISCOUNT?
As a wine importer and seller, by having no unnecessary middlemen in the process I have already great prices. I take great pride in offering fair prices to my customers as this has been so far one of the main reasons of the growth of my wine projects on the Japanese market. However, sometimes the situation requires discounts. So, what kind of discounts are there?
1. Overstock discounts
Overstock discounts happen when a new shipment of wine is coming in and there is not enough room left in our warehouse. Renting new temperature controlled storage space is quite expensive in Japan and it would mean that we have to raise prices for all products. Therefore sometimes making this kind of compromise discounts is quite cost efficient and it make sense both for seller and the buyer. This type of discount is the most common so keep an eye on THIS PAGE if you don't want to miss out.
2. Vintage discounts
The vintage of a wine is changing every year therefore sometimes it might happen that a new vintage is coming in while still having the older vintage in stock. We put priority in selling the older vintage first, therefore we might have a discount sale in order to make room for the new vintage. This kind of discount is actually very similar to the overstock discount and it helps us keep the overall prices low on the long term.
3. Case discounts
A "case discount" takes place when buying one case of the same wine (one case usually contains 6 bottles of wine). Delivering one case of the same wine is less demanding than mixing 6 different wines in the same case. The packaging goes faster and the paperwork is considerably less therefore it is normal to have some discounts for customers who buy our wines by the case. However, not all the wines are discounted when buying them by the case due to stock shortage. If we have enough stock, the discount is on!
4. Pack discounts
Usually "pack discounts" are short term and they are implemented to attract new customers or to promote certain wines. This type of discount offers you the possibility to get great wines at lower prices.
